Female agricultural research officer hacked to death

A 30-year-old woman, an agricultural research officer in Tangalle had been hacked to death over a dispute related to her work last morning.   

Police said the victim was attacked and killed with a sharp weapon in the Weliara area while she was travelling from her home for her fieldwork.   

It was revealed she was killed by an individual in the same area due to a fertilizer related dispute that occurred on the previous day. 

The deceased was identified as a married woman, a resident of Netholpitiya, Weliara.   

The 41-year-old suspect, identified as “Danny Baby” who committed the murder has been arrested by police and Tangalle Police is conducting further investigations.
