First in the Island at Grade 5 Scholarship Exam

A student of Anuradhapura St. Joseph’s College Gampalage Nawanga Hansa Raja Fonseka has scored a triumph by being first in the Island at the Grade Five scholarship examination this year. He had scored 198 marks.
Nawanga is the only child in the family of Nirmala Priyangani, a Nurse of Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, and an Air Force official attached to Katunayake Air Force Base.

Principal of the school M.Ajith Amaraweera Silva said it was for the first time that a student from Anuradhapura District came first in the Island at the grade five scholarship examination.

Class teacher W.M. Chaminda Kumara Weerasinghe said Nawanga excelled in extracurricular activities as well. Nawanga said his ambition in life was to be a doctor.
