Five DIGs including CID chief transferred: Ampavila to lead CID

The National Police Commission has transferred five Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), including DIG Rohan Premaratne, who was overseeing the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).   


According to the Commission, a female DIG was also among those transferred, with the moves subject to the approval of the Election Commission.   


DIG Premaratne has been appointed as the new DIG in charge of the Western Province (North), while DIG P. Ampavila has been appointed as the new head of the CID.   


Previously, DIG Ampavila was based at Police Headquarters, overseeing investigations related to money laundering, pyramid schemes, and virtual currencies.   

In addition, DIG D.P. Chandrasiri has been transferred from his position as DIG of the Galle District to DIG in charge of Logistics, while DIG (Acting) E. M. G. J. Seram was transferred from his role as DIG in charge of the Community Police and Environmental Protection Division to head the Galle District.   


Acting DIG Bimshani Jasin Arachchi was also transferred from the Recruitment and Training Division at Police Headquarters to take on the role of DIG in charge of the Community Police and Environmental Protection Division.
