Fmr. MP Abeyratne arrested for firing shots to scare group in Horana

Former MP and present SJB organiser for Horana, P.D. Abeyratne was arrested for shooting into the air with his firearm to scare a group of people at Boralugoda in Horana yesterday.  

Police said a couple was staying to look after a land for the former MP in the area, and he had told them not to entertain outsiders.  

However, when the former MP went to his land on Wednesday (14), a group of outsiders were present on the land, and then there was a dispute with the former MP and the group.  

He then fired shots in the air to warn them, police said.

  
They said no one was injured in the shooting. 

 
Accordingly, the Horana Police conducted an investigation and arrested the 70-year-old former MP at his residence in Ingiriya, along with the firearm and three rounds of ammunition used in the shooting.
