Former Presidents would be removed from official residences

Member of the Executive Committee of Jathika Jana Balawegaya Samantha Vidyaratne said after Leader of the JJB Anura Kumara Dissanayake comes to power immediate steps would be taken to withdraw privileges granted by the government to former Presidents and their families.   

Addressing a propaganda rally at Kandalama in Dambulla on Tuesday (03) he said the pension rights of parliamentarians would be abolished and that the government would not bear the responsibility of maintaining former Presidents.   

The rally had been organised by Matale District Leader of Jathika Jana Balawegaya Gamagedara Dissanayake.   

He said the former Presidents and their families would be removed from official residences and that the expenditure on providing them privileges would be used to provide relief to the children whose parents were not in a position to provide them facilities.   

However, he stressed that the pension rights of the government employees and other incentives provided to them would be enhanced. He further said step would be taken to provide high standard fertilizer to the farmers under the fertilizer subsidy scheme.   

During the rally Former Chairman of the Central Provincial Council W.M.Yasamana joined the JJB.
