Fuel prices slashed

  • The price revision came into effect last night

The fuel price revision which was scheduled to take place on April 1 went into effect last night, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.

 He said the president, as the Finance Minister, approved the announcement of the price revision according to the fuel price formula with effect from last night.   


Addressing the media, he said a litre of Lanka Petrol 92 Octane would be reduced by Rs. 60 and Lanka Petrol 95 Octane Euro 4 by Rs. 135, a litre of Lanka Auto Diesel would be reduced by Rs. 80, Lanka Super Diesel 4 Star Euro 4 by Rs. 45 and a litre of Kerosene would be reduced by Rs. 10 from midnight today, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara said yesterday.   


The new retail prices are as follows: Lanka Petrol 92 Octane - Rs. 340, Lanka Petrol 95 Octane Euro 4 - Rs. 375, Lanka Auto Diesel - Rs. 325, Lanka Super Diesel 4 Star Euro 4 - Rs. 465 and Lanka Kerosene - Rs. 295   


Meanwhile, the Lanka IOC has also decided to reduce the fuel prices in line with the fuel price reduction of the CEYPETCO.
