HRCSL orders IGP to submit report within 24 hrs

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has directed the IGP to submit a full report within 24 hours regarding the firing of tear gas and water cannons on a protest march organized by the National People’s Power (NPP).

The HRCSL said they have initiated an immediate investigation into the incident where the NPP protest march was tear gassed at Union Place within the Slave Island police division where there was no court order issued for prevention of any protest being held.
