The Milk Powder Importers’ Association has decided to reduce the price of imported milk powder with effect from April 1, the association’s spokesperson Ashoka Bandara said.
He told Daily Mirror that the decision was taken due to the decrease in prices in the world market.
Accordingly, the price of a 1 kg packet of imported milk powder would be reduced by Rs. 200, and the price of a 400g packet would be reduced by Rs. 80.
The price of a 1 kg packet of imported milk powder would be Rs. 2,895. Earlier, it was at Rs. 3,095.
The 400-gram packet, which was priced at Rs. 1,240 will be Rs. 1,160, Mr Bandara said.
“If we receive concessions at the milk powder auctions, we will pass that savings on to our customers,” Mr Bandara added.
