Individual hacked to death in hospital ward

An individual involved in a clash between two parties engaging in the contraband trade of drug peddling and admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital had been hacked to death in the early hours of last morning. The victim B.W. Ruwanjith Vijitha (24) was a resident of Medawachchiya.

Police said the victim had been on bail in connection with his involvement in the illegal drug trade. Investigations revealed that an individual who entered the hospital secretly at about 4 am yesterday had hacked to death the injured under treatment in ward eleven.

Anuradhapura Police are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspect.
