Jail term for wife who brought narcotics to husband in remand

A woman who brought narcotics - heroin and ICE - kept in a cup of yoghurt for her husband in remand in connection with a robbery was found guilty and sentenced to 14 months imprisonment and fined Rs. 11,000 by Galle Chief Magistrate Isuru Nettikumara. She was sentenced to a further two-month imprisonment in default of the fine. 

The suspect Warushahennadige Sanduni Chanchala Madushani (27) was a mother of three children.
The Police told court that she had brought a packet of meals and a cup of yoghurt for her husband and that the prison officers had checked them to find the stock of narcotics.


Police Sergeant 14353 Madanayaya produced the suspect in court.
