J’pura Uni to conduct Int’l research conference

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) of the University of Sri    Jayewardenepura, will hold the International Research Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS) for the 8th time on 16th (Thursday) and 17th (Friday) March as a HYBRID Conference under the theme “Seeing through Testing Times and the Future.”   

The inauguration ceremony and the plenary speeches will take place at the Senate Boardroom of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura while the conference presentations will  take place on a virtual platform.   

IRCHSS 2023 is an event that has attracted both local and international scholars over the last  few years. As it has been in the past, it aims at providing a platform for renowned intellectuals  and emerging scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research on all aspects of Humanities and Social Sciences.   

The keynote speaker of the conference is Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha, Emeritus Professor,   Sabaragamuwa University Sri Lanka. The plenary speakers are Prof. Charmalie Nahallage,   University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Prof. Rajesh Bhatt University of Massachusetts at  Amherst, USA and Prof. Dr. Andrew Lian, Emeritus Professor, University of Canberra,  Australia who is also a Professor at Suranaree University of Technology, Thailand.   

The chair of the conference is Dr. Tharanga Weerasooriya and the conference secretary is Dr.  Tharaka Ananda from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.   

This year timely research topics on challenges and opportunities posed by the current socio- economic situations and their implications to propose strategic plans are specifically given  attention to at the conference.
