Leading mill owner Dudley Sirisena asks for Rs. 140 support price for paddy kilo from farmers

  • Says milled rice will cost Rs. 280 a kilo for consumers, but farmers cannot help

Leading rice mill owner Dudley Sirisena who has a greater  control over the market urged the government to increase the support  price of paddy for farmers from Rs. 100 to Rs. 140 a kilo.  


Making remarks to the press, he said it would lead to the  rise in the price of milled rice to Rs. 280 a kilo for consumers, but farmers  could not help it.  Earlier, the President assured that the government would purchase paddy at Rs. 100 per kilo.
