Lightning strikes Walasmulla Hospital, causes multimillion damage to medical equipment

A thunderbolt strike has damaged the special treatment unit of the Walasmulla Base Hospital, a spokesman for the hospital said. The spokesman said three patients were seeking treatment at  the time were immediately transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. Following the lightning strike, valuable medical equipment had been damaged extensively, causing a multimillion loss to the hospital.
