Lightning strikes two siblings: one dead, other injured

 A ten-year-old girl died and her 16-year-old brother was injured when lightening struck them, the police said.  
 The two children with their parents were clearing the garden to lay the foundation for a house when they met with accident.   

 The deceased Obesekara Mudiyanselage Thilakshi Madushika (10) was a Grade - five student of Passara Madya Maha Vidyalaya. Her brother who received head injuries was admitted to the Badulla teaching hospital.   
 However, their father and mother were not hurt in the incident.   

 They told police that they are living in a very small house . They cleared the land near it to lay the foundation for a new house and that their two children were helping them.   

 Badulla police are conducting further investigations.
