Local polls by force

Government will be forced to hold the local government elections through real battles on the streets, Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa 
said yesterday.  

“We will not launch a mere Aragalaya to force the government to hold the local polls but will engage in real street battles,” Premadasa said at the protest organized by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) in Fort.  

“We are not afraid of tear gas and water cannons. My father laid down his life on the streets. Therefore we are not afraid of anything. We will see that the local government polls are held,” he added.  

SJB MP Kabir Hashim said SJBers are even prepared to go to prison and would defy orders. We will take to the streets.
