Local universities foster entrepreneurship in industry sector

The Ministry of Industries has launched an initiative to cultivate entrepreneurship among university students focusing on the country’s industrial landscape and to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands.
On a directive of Industries Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana spearheaded by Chairman of the Industrial Development Board Dr. Saranga Alahapperuma, the project aims to drive sustainable growth and prosperity within the country’s industrial sector.   
The University of Ruhuna is gearing up to host its inaugural workshop for students enrolled in the Department of Agriculture Economics and Agribusiness. Scheduled from March 19th to 28th, the immersive programme is the result of collaborative discussions between the IDB and Prof. Nilantha de Silva.   
Participants will engage in a comprehensive series of activities, including workshops and a field visit, designed to fulfil their graduation requirements while equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in the industrial sector.
