says most politicians forget promises

Mahanayake of Malwatta Chapter Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri  Siddhartha Sumangala Thera said was with great difficulty that a  patriotic and people’s friendly politician could be found nowadays and  that the majority of the politicians, after coming into power, forget  what they had professed to the people.  


During a meeting with a group of representatives of civil  society organisations, yesterday at Malwatta temple the Ven. Thera said  the Mahasangha always blessed the civil society organisation that  campaigned against frauds, bribery and corruption but it was said that  they would not meet with people’s friendly politicians as expected.   


Ven. Mahanayake Thera stressed the need to bring a  patriotic and people’s friendly visionary leader to be at the country’s  helm, which was the vehement expectation of the people.  
 Representatives told the Mahanayake Thera that they were working out an effective plan to bring such a leader into power.  


After the meeting with Ven.Siddhartha Sumangala Thera,  President of  “Magen Ratata”  Organisation Sanjaya Mahawatta told the  media that the Collective of Civil Society Organisations was not  affiliated to any political party or organisation and that its plan was  to build a country free of fraud and corruption.

   
He said the Collective of Civil Society Organisations had  already decided on an individual fit for leadership and that he would be  put forward in due course.   
Mahawatta further said he was in possession of several  secret documents relating to Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, and he would  hand over them to the CID today (29)
