Mahanayake Thera requests President to prevent possible communal, religious crises

Mahanayake of Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven. Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thera has said that the recent incidents reported from several areas signal the possibility of communal and religious crises and requested President Ranil Wickremesinghe to take steps to prevent that impending danger.   

During a meeting with the President who called over at the Asgiriya temple on Saturday (20), Ven Thera handed over a memorandum in this regard.   

Ven. Thera has drawn the attention of the President on three vital issues including the need to prevent obstructions to the renovation and conservation of ancient places of Buddhist worship in the North and East, to implement conservation projects in historic archaeological sites all over the country, and to obtain assistance from external sources for them.
