Mahanayake Theras call for action against duplicate Dalada Maligawa

Mahanayake Theras of the Malwatta and Asgiriya Chapters and the Diyawadana Nilame of Dalada Maligawa has requested President Ranil Wickremesinghe to hold a formal investigation of a false Dalada Maligawa at Wadakada road in Potuhera in Kurunegala and raising funds for it from the public.

   They informed the President that individuals responsible for building a duplicate of the Sri Dalada Maligawa were collecting funds from devotees and that several local and foreign devotees had fallen prey to this racket and donated cash and gold.  

“They have published derogatory statements against Kandy Sri Dalada Maligawa on social media much to the anxiety of the Buddhists and attempted to distort the history of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the Sri Dalada Maligawa that would affect the well being of the Buddha Sasana. The individuals attempting to bring disrepute to the Sri Dalada Maligawa should be liable to legal action under the provisions of the constitution to foster and safeguard Buddhism.” They have said.  

The Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter Ven.Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera, Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Warakagoda Sri Pagnananda Gnanarathana Thera and Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela have sent a joint letter to the President requesting a formal investigations in this regard.
