Mahinda Deshapriya seeks to rejoin EC

• He said his priority is to serve as the Chairman of the Delimitation Commission

Chairman of the National Delimitation Commission Mahinda Deshapriya has sought to rejoin the Election Commission.  

The Constitutional Council which makes appointments to the independent commissions has called for applications from prospective candidates.  

Mr. Deshapriya told Daily Mirror that he applied to join the Election Commission upon requests by many including his subordinates. However, he said his priority is to serve as the Chairman of the Delimitation Commission.  

He served as the Chairman of the Election Commission earlier and supervised the conduct of many national elections including the presidential polls in 2015 and 2019.
