Matron engages girl in detention centre as sexual worker

The matron in charge of a detention centre of the Department of Probation and Childcare at Welammaduwa in Gampola is alleged to have hired a 17 year old girl, an inmate of the detention center to a group of young men for sexual relations.   

The girl from Suriyagama in Moragollagama had been handed over to the detention home of the Department of Probation and Childcare on a court order.   

She called over at the Madatugama police with a relative and made a complaint in this regard.   

OIC Madatugama police CI Saliya Gandarawatta said the victim was referred to the JMO Dambulla base hospital and the Welammaduwa police informed to conduct further investigations.
