The shortage of medicines in Sri Lanka will end in two weeks, Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella informed Parliament yesterday.

The Minister said the Ministry has been able to purchase 81 out of 151 medicines which were in short supply by Thursday.

“The Finance Ministry had given priority to the health sector when it comes to state spending after allocating funds for salaries and pensions,” he said.

“There is no truth in halting surgeries in state hospitals as all emergency surgeries are being carried out while no emergency operations such as hernia operations have been postponed.
