More complaints surface against SL cricketers during Australia tour

A 3-member investigation panel consisting of Justice Sisira Ratnayake (retired High Court Judge) has been appointed to initiate an inquiry into the alleged incident involving player Danushka Gunathilaka and other complaints which seem to have come to light against some other players, the Daily Mirror learns. 

Attorney-at-Law Niroshana Perera and Asela Rekawa were appointed as the members of the panel. Sri Lanka Cricket in a statement said the committee will focus on the inquiry of various alleged incidents that have come to the attention of Sri Lanka Cricket that is said to have allegedly taken place during the national team’s stay in Australia, including the allegations against Danushka Gunathilaka.


The panel in this process will call for an immediate explanation from the Team Manager pertaining to his conduct, with references to the occurrence of all such incidents.


Upon submission of the said report by the Panel, the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket will take stern disciplinary action against the players and or officials, if proven, for any wrongdoing or negligence when carrying out the official duties, the SLC said.


Meanwhile, in the wake of the alleged sexual charges against player Danushka Gunathilaka, Sports Ministry Secretary Dr. Amal Harsha Silva said that the Sports Ministry has received several complaints about various alleged incidents involving other players as well during their stay in Australia.
