In the wake of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) coming under huge criticism over the alleged involvement of the import of substandard Immunoglobulin injections, the NMRA has witnessed the resignation of three members from its board.
Accordingly, Attorney-at-Law Manoj Gamage, Supul Wijesinghe and Dr Priyantha Serasinghe have conveyed their decision to step down as Directors of the NMRA in resignation letters submitted to Minister of Health Ramesh Pathirana.
These individuals are the nominees of the former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, who is currently in remand custody over the Immunoglobulin scandal.
With the latest development, the NMRA Board comprises of Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama (Chairman), Dr. Saveen Semage (CEO), Dr. Kosala Karunaratne, Dr. Asela Gunawardane, M.M. Chathura Parakrama Mohottigedara, Dr.Pradeep Kumarasinghe De Silva, Dr. Banukie Jayasuriya and Dr. Duminda Ariyaratne.
