NMRA CEO likely to be removed Important documents at NMRA destroyed

Several important documents at the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) have been reportedly destroyed, the Society of Government Pharmacists alleged.  
Its President Thushara Ranadeva told Daily Mirror the NMRA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Vijith Gunasekera has intervened in the destruction of these documents.  


“The CEO has been disposing of certain files belonging to the NMRA. Last night (01), the CEO had visited the NMRA premises and destroyed some files using a paper cutter. These files have been placed into bags,” Thushara Ranadeva claimed.  

 Meanwhile, Daily Mirror learns that the NMRA CEO has been asked to step down; however, he had renounced to do so.   


The NMRA under the leadership of its former Chairman and current CEO Dr. Vijith Gunasekera has faced a spate of allegations with regard to the influx of inferior-quality medicines in the recent past.
