SLPP National List member Namal Rajapaksa called on both President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, to clarify their stance over their promised salary increments.

In a recent post on social media platform X, Rajapaksa claimed that both leaders, in their respective election campaigns, pledged to increase public sector salaries, but the issue has since “hit a dead end,” with each leader now deflecting responsibility.  He expressed concern over the effect of these unfulfilled promises on government employees, describing them as the “backbone” of the country.   “Misleading them will only lead to frustration and turmoil,” Rajapaksa warned.

He also called on President Dissanayake to honour his campaign commitments, emphasising that government employees deserve clarity and action on this issue.
