Nedungamuwe Raja leaves Kandy

Nedungamuwe Raja the tusker that carried the casket of sacred relics in the final Randoli pageant in Kandy set off on its return journey last morning(1) from Kandy.

It had arrived to Kandy making a long journey on August 12 to carry the casket of relics in the Perehera.

Last morning it started its return journey from the Pattirippuwa at the Sri Dalada Maligawa after paying homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic,  The STF would  provide  protection to Nadungamuwe Raja through out its journey . Its first resting place at the  Urapola Rajamaha Vihara in Pilimathalawa. Pic of Tusker attach
