New BASL President vows to function independently

Senior Attorney Kaushalya Navaratne who assumed duties as the 27th President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), assured that BASL will continue to function independently .

He succeeds former BASL President Attorney-at-Law Saliya Pieris PC whose tenure concluded on Saturday.  

Attorney Kaushalya Navaratne was elected the BASL President on January 11.  

Navaratne’s induction took place at the 49th Convocation of the BASL, held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) yesterday afternoon.  
Attorney General Sanjaya Rajaratnam was also present at the event.
