New revenue targets are challenging, but committed to meet them - ECG

• Says committed to meet these targets to stabilise economy

 Recently appointed Commissioner General of Excise Saman  Jayasinghe yesterday said he is committed to meet the new revenue  targets, which is a challenging task.  

 He said it is not impractical as some have interpreted it, but a challenging task to meet the Rs.217 billion revenue target set up by the Treasury.  

 “As the head of one of the three main revenue generating  arms of the government, I am committed to meet these targets to stabilise  the economy,” Mr. Jayasinghe said.  

He said they are formulating new plans in the future for  revenue generation and expecting to hold discussions with the IMF  representatives too.
