Next year to be a year of elections : Ruwan

• The President will be backed by an alliance which will comprise both SJB and SLPP in future elections

Next year will be an election year where three kinds of elections will be held, UNP Deputy Leader and Senior Presidential Advisor Ruwan Wijewardene said over the weekend.   
“We will have to face a Presidential, General and a Provincial Council election next year and thus it will be an election year,” Mr. Wijewardene said at the UNP Dompe Bala Mandala meeting.  

 “ Some SJB MPs have had discussions with the President, my self and other UNP seniors and will extend their support to President shortly. President will be backed by an alliance which will comprise both SJB and SLPP in future elections,” he said.   
Referring to an arrest of a journalists, Mr. Wijewardene said the media personality was arrested as he was working against the law.” Anyone can participate in protests without breaking the law, “ he said in this regard.  Also he said President will intervene to resolve issues such as cricket and in controlling prices of essential commodities
