Nilantha Jayawardena appointed as Senior DIG Administration

• SDIG Jayawardena, who was the former head of State Intelligence, is the second highest senior officer of the Sri Lanka Police

Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Nilantha Jayawardena has been appointed as the Senior DIG Administration with effect from Monday (Jan.2).  

Police said SDIG Jayawardena was appointed to the post by the secretary to the Ministry of Public Security and the National Police Commission, under the reccomendation of IGP Chandana Wickramaratne, following the retirement of Senior DIG Nandana Munasinghe.  

Accordingly, SDIG Jayawardena, who was the former head of State Intelligence, is the second highest senior officer of the Sri Lanka Police.  

SDIG Jayawardena was also a key witness in the State’s 2019 Easter Sunday case against former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando as well as then IGP Pujith Jayasundera.
