Border restrictions imposed on the Western Province will be lifted from November 15 midnight but several towns, cities and Grama Niladhari divisions will continue to be isolated, Sri Lanka Army Commander and National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Head Lt. General Shavendra Silva said.

“These areas will be assessed today (Nov.14) and depending on the spread of the virus and the number of cases being detected, one or two isolated areas will also be released. However it would be best if people refrain from crossing between districts until the situation is stabilised,” he added.

With many COVID-19 positive patients being reported from Western Province, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa called to restrict movements out of Western Province from November 11-15 and public transport services too have been suspended till then.
