Opposing ongoing strikes by certain opposition members Some members in JJB and SJB understand the actual situation - Akila

There are progressive people in Opposition parties such as Jathika Jana Balawegaya and Samagi Jana Balawegaya, UNP Assistant Leader Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said yesterday.   

“K. D. Lalkantha of Jathika Jana Balawegaya and Eran Wickramaratne of Samagi Jana Balawegaya are progressive leaders who understand the real situation. That is why they oppose ongoing strikes. They are aware that the country would lose much with strikes and protests,” Kariyawasam said.   

“Clear awareness of the consequence of sabotage had resulted in criticism coming from within the parties itself,” he added.   

He said that what tourists experienced at Fort Railway station on Wednesday could affect tourism. “Tourists suffered on Wednesday as they could not reach their destinations within Sri Lanka because of the general strike, “ he added. the country would lose much with strikes and protests.
