PC and two soldiers arrested for taking drugs

A police constable and two soldiers who were using the illegal intoxicant called ICE in a house near Hiripitiya area had been taken into custody by Homagama police on Saturday night (11)   

Police had carried out the raid on a tip off received from the public and arrested the suspects who had in their possession 60ml.gms of ICE.  

Investigations revealed that the suspect PC had joined the Parliamentary Security Division as a police assistant and promoted a PC, while the other two suspects were soldiers attached to the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps in Panagoda. 

They were residents of Moratuwa, Nikaweratiya and Galapitamada areas.  

The suspects were to be produced before Homagama magistrate last morning.  

In a similar incident a sergeant of Anuradhapura Division Crime Investigation Unit was arrested by Police Anti-Narcotic Bureau for selling Ganja. He was in possession of 01.940kilos of Kerala Ganja of which the market value could have been more than Rs. 01 million.   

The Anti-Narcotic Bureau had carried out the raid on Saturday night (11) on intelligence received through the Army and arrested the 45 year old suspect when he attempted to sell Ganja to army personnel.  

A police team of the Mannar Unit of the Anti-Narcotic Bureau under SI Thiloka Nuwan had carried out the raid.
