PC arrested for theft of agrochemicals from courtroom

A police constable who attempted to take away a stock of agrochemicals from the production room of Kalpitiya visiting Magistrate’s Court was arrested by the Kalpitiya Police.

The suspect PC who had been on court duty and when he was off duty in the afternoon had attempted to carry a cardboard box on his motorcycle which aroused suspicion of the public. On their information, a police team had rushed to the scene and examined the contents of the box to find 12 packets of agrochemicals.

Investigations revealed that the stock of agrochemicals was a case production. However, it was yet to be established as to how the suspect could pilfer them from the case production room.

He was to be produced before the Puttalam Magistrate yesterday.
