Parliamentary election complaints reduced by 44 percent compared to Aug. 2020

The Parliamentary election related complaints have reduced by 44 per cent since the previous election which was held in August 2020. The Parliamentary election held in August 2020 reported 8,683 complaints whereas the parliamentary elections held in November 2024 reported 3,822 complaints.

Of the 3,822 complaints received, it was reported by the Election Commission that the National Election Complaints Management Centre had received 1206 complaints and District Election Complaints Management Centre had received 2,616 complaints.   
The Election Commission of Sri Lanka released a statement in which it was clarified that almost 80 per cent of election related complaints are amended and the rest of the complaints are being processed which are to be addressed soon.   
Executive Director of People’s Action for Free & Fair Elections (PAFFREL), Rohana Hettiarachchi states the improvement in the electoral process of Sri Lanka by mentioning Sri Lanka is adhering to the international standard of elections. Rohana also mentioned the complaints have drastically reduced since the previous years.
