A Police curfew has been imposed in the Puttalam District and Kochchikade in Negombo from 4.30 p.m yesterday until further notice to assist in the measures being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in that region of the country, the Police said.
The curfew was imposed in the Puttalam, Anamaduwa, Kalpitiya, Karuwalagaswewa, Mundalama, Nawagaththegama, Pallama, Wanathawilluwa, Udappuwa, Noraichcholai and the Saliyawewa Police areas in the Puttalam Police Division.
A curfew was also imposed in the Police areas of Chilaw, Dankotuwa, Koswatta, Madampe, Marawila, Wennappuwa and Arachchikattuwa in the Chilaw Police Division.
The Police said that there were no restrictions on public transport and essential services during the curfew and that the curfew would not affect the process of handing
over of nominations.
Passengers who are heading towards Bandaranaike International Airport can produce their air tickets as a curfew pass, a Police Spokesman said.
