Police officer knocked down by women police sergeant dies

• The WPS had been produced in Courts and released on bail

OIC Kebithigollewa Division Crime Investigation Unit who  had been knocked down by a motorcar driven by a Woman Police Sergeant  (WPS) and admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital in critical  condition, died in the early hours of last morning. The victim, IP B. Sunil Chandrasiri, a resident of Namalwewa in Mihintale, was riding a motorcycle when he met with the accident.

He had been knocked down at  Welankumama junction on Anuradhapura – Trincomalee A12 highway on  October 08, and was under treatment at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, where  he succumbed to his injuries last morning. 

The WPS of Ambanpola Police who caused the accident had been produced in Courts and released on bail.  Minintale Police are conducting further investigations.
