Power, petroleum, hospitals again declared essential services

• Supply of electricity, distribution of petroleum products, fuel,  service, work or labour in connection with maintenance,  reception, care feeding, and treatment of patients

An extraordinary gazette notification (2313/25) was issued considering the necessity of the services provided by any Public Corporation or Government, as essential public services.  

Accordingly, supply of electricity, distribution of petroleum products and fuel, all service, work or labour, of any description whatsoever, necessary or required to be done in connection with the maintenance, and the reception, care feeding, and treatment, of patients in hospitals, nursing homes, dispensaries, and other similar institutions.  

The gazette notification was issued by President’s Secretary E. M. S. B. Ekanayake.
