• 40 MPs have already rallied behind the  group led by Mr. Lanza

A group of government MPs who were elected on the ticket of  Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has taken initiatives to make a new  political formation to back President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the next  presidential election, Daily Mirror learns.  

The group acting under MP Nimal Lanza is now working for  establishing an office in the Rajagiriya area of Colombo. In Parliament,  69 MPs who were elected on the SLPP ticket act independent of the party  at the moment.  

It is learnt that 40 MPs have already rallied behind the  group led by Mr. Lanza. A group of MPs from Sri Lanka Freedom Party  (SLFP).
