Protest against MPs’ vehicle permits

A protest organized by the Citizen Power Organization Against Bribery and Corruption took place outside the Presidential Secretariat yesterday, urging the government to address the decision to reinstate vehicle permits for MPs. 

The demonstration led to a tense situation when police removed banners. Subsequently, protestors submitted a memorandum to the President’s Additional Secretary, Kapila Munasinghe. Recently, the Daily Mirror revealed that Members of Parliament are slated to receive vehicle permits.
