Railway workers injured due to a rock slide

Workmen attending to repairs to the railway line between Bandarawela and Kinigama railway stations were injured and admitted to hospital when rocks from a adjacent hillock had fallen on them.   

A senior official of the department said five workers were attending to repairs to the track amid torrential rain. He said that a rock slide from the adjacent hill had caused them injuries.   
Others on duty at the site had managed to signal the Badulla bound express to halt and prevented any accident.   

Meanwhile, the train service on the main line was held up yesterday when a mound of earth obstructed the railway line between Talawakelle and Watagoda.
