Rain was a major spoiler at Katugastota yesterday on the first day’s play between St. Anthony’s College and St. Joseph’s College played for the Murali-Vaas Trophy.
This was the 109th encounter between the two schools.
Only 39.4 overs were bowled as rain in the Central Hills did not allow a good day’s cricket at Katugastota.
Meanwhile, St. Sebastian’s College scored a first innings win over Trinity College in their Under 19 Inter School cricket encounter which concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy yesterday.
Though Trinity’s spinners took 14 out of the 15 wickets to fall, it was still not enough for the Kandy School to score a first innings win as their batters failed badly, with only Janith Ravishka doing well for his 47. Vimath scored a good knock of 67 for the visitors.
