Ranil should be allowed to run the country for 12 more years : Vajira

• Sri Lanka would become a powerful nation if Mr. Wickremesinghe is allowed to run the nation for 12 more years from 2024

People should give the incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe the mandate to govern the nation for 12 more years, UNP MP Vajira Abeywardana said yesterday .   

  “Sri Lanka would become a powerful nation if Mr. Wickremesinghe is allowed to run the nation for 12 more years from 2024. If not the nation will end up with a destruction once again. Let everyone get together and perform their duty towards the nation,” the MP told a briefing.   “Some nations may think that an uneducated weak leader should lead Sri Lanka. However Sri Lanka should be led by someone who does not become a servant of the international community. Sri Lanka is led by such a leader at the moment. Mr. Wickremesinghe has already made this clear to the international community,”    
 Abeywardene said.   

Asked as to what election will be held first, the MP said a presidential election will be held first to prevent those who are engaged in international conspiracies to have their way.. “President will decide on elections without leaving space for those who are engaged in conspiracies,” he said.   

Asked about the business tycoons who are hoping to run for presidency, the MP said all of them will come to a national consensus at the last moment.
