Report on May 9 incidents to be presented to Parliament

Leader of the House Susil Premajayantha yesterday assured that the report of the committee appointed to look into the riots on May 9, will be presented to Parliament soon after speaking to President Ranil Wickremesinghe with regard to the matter. 

Mr. Premajayantha said he will inquire from the President if he had received the report. 

“I don’t know whether the committee report has been handed over to the President. I will make arrangements to present it to the House if it is possible,’ he said. 

Earlier opposition MP Wimal Weerawansa requested that the report be submitted to the House. “A committee which comprises former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda will look into the incidents of May 9, 2022. Therefore, we request that it be submitted to the House so that people can also get to know what is revealed by the committee. If not the appointment of the committee would not serve any purpose,” the MP said.
