The country will have to keep under certain restrictions until the month of December this year, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardane said. He told reporters yesterday after an event that people seem to be taking things for granted, which is evident with their behaviour during the weekend.

“This is the very situation that we witnessed during the last New Year season where people started to go on picnics and pilgrimages making the COVID situation dreadful,” he said.

The public will have to act with a sense of responsibility in order to keep coronavirus at bay,” Dr. Gunawardane added.

Hence, he appealed to the people to strictly adhere to health practices despite being vaccinated and added the restrictions would have to be carried on until the end of this year.
