Russian family attacked by wild elephant

A vehicle transporting a Russian family had been attacked by a wild elephant when they attempted to take a selfie with the elephant which was frequenting the road near the Minneriya National Park on the Habarana- Polonnaruwa main road.  

 The tourist family a couple and two children of 08 years and 10 months of age had a narrow escape but were suffering from shock. Investigations revealed that the wild elephant had chased after them when they went near it and attempted to take a selfie. They had taken to their heels and escaped it and boarded the motorcar but the jumbo had attacked the vehicle causing minor damages  

Minneriya police said the family had been on a trip to Polonnaruwa by a rented vehicle and had met with the incident on their way back. They had left after making a statement.
