Deputy Leader of the UNP Ruwan Wijewardene said the people must not depend on election promises but think deeply about the country’s future at the upcoming Presidential Election and elect President Ranil Wickremesinghe to another term of office.

Addressing the ceremony to open the UNP District Office at Church Road in Gampaha on Saturday, he said several candidates are planning to contest the election and President Ranil Wickremesinghe will be an independent candidate.

“The President decided to contest the election independently to provide the opportunity for the people to make a decision regardless of narrow political ideologies. The camp that thinks about the future is being strengthened, and the people are rallying around President Ranil Wickremesinghe for his victory, he further said.

Former Parliamentarians John Amaratunga and several others addressed the ceremony.
