SJB organizer nabbed with drugs

• The operations conducted to nab drug offenders is a welcome move but the big fish involved should be nabbed as well, says SJB MP

Operations conducted by the Ministry of Public Security is welcomed but the big fish involved in the rackets should be nabbed as well, an MP from the main opposition Samagi Balawegaya (SJB) said yesterday.    

SJB MP Hector Appuharmy when questioned by journalists on the operations carried out by the Ministry of Public Security said it is a welcome move. “The operations carried out by the Ministry of Public Security is welcome but it should nab the leaders of the rackets as well. The operations will be truly successful only during such an eventuality,” he said.   

Asked about the nabbing of an SJB organizer who has been arrested with narcotics in Kurunegala, the MP said those who play around with drugs should be arrested no matter which political party they belong to. “This could be somebody at grassroots level in the party,” he also said.

“The ministry must have started the operations with a snap election in mind. We also expect that a general election will precede the presidential election.
