SL envoy in Beijing holds talks with leader in electric battery supplies

  • Explores possibility to set up plant in Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan Ambassador to China Dr. Palitha Kohona met the Vice President of the Yuqun New Energy Group, Qiu Weiqian, which is the global leader in electric battery production and explored the possibility of investment in Sri Lanka.  


According to the Sri Lankan mission in Beijing, Green and low carbon energy is their slogan and the Group recognised the need to move some of the production facilities closer to the car manufacturers. A plant has already been built in Germany. China remains the top manufacturer of electric cars.  


Dr. Kohona also had discussions with Shen Huangtong, national channel Director of the Xiamen Xiaoyi Travel Technology, Company which is a major coordinator of travel operators, including on-line platforms. They will log into the travel promotion event being hosted by the Embassy and will assist with the Mission’s tourism promotion activities.  


The Ambassadors were hosted to dinner by the President of Empereur Teas, a company that provides gifts for China’s leaders when foreign leaders are being entertained, consisting of the most exquisite teas in China.
